No you didn't know that....Before the left perverted the term as a derogatory racial slur against poor whites living in the South and in Appalachia, 'Rednecks' were unionized coal miners who organized and fought the mine owners to improve their working conditions and to negotiate livable wages....often ending in bloodshed for the miners and their families....
