Christians believe they are persecuted as a matter of doctrine. I've just come to believe that they have a different definition of persecution than the rest of us. I mean Christians today will talk about being persecuted in the United States, even though from the best of what I can tell it just means they aren't allowed to forcibly shove their bullshit in everybody's faces 24 hours a day. Get over the persecution complex. Christians have persecuted many hundreds of thousands of times the people as they have been persecuted.
As for Christianity in the Arab peninsula, I'm sure there was some. Ethiopia and Egypt were both Christian states prior to Islam, but I don't see the link as credible evidence for a whole Christian state. The things that are discovered seem to mean that there was a Christian community of some kind. But that's not surprising as the Arab peninsula was fairly religiously tolerant before Islam.
