Do not disable it! 
Perhaps something like flashblock.... prevents loading the flash object, but provides a button (the size of the object) that loads it when you click/tap.
My 2010 droid froyo works just fine.... but I don't go to those threads that tegh goes.
BTW, Tib, if you're going to look into the mobile version, kindly fix this issue:
