Since he didn't specify though, how do you know he meant "through my teachings" as opposed to "through belief in me"? That's why I brought up this verse because I always thought it was related to the whole "belief in me -> eternal life" thing.
But elsewhere in scriptures, it says "belief in his name". Yeshua's name does have a literal meaning in Hebrew. (YHWH is salvation)
Scripture also reiterates that YHWH is salvation numerous times.
There's even a single verse that says "God our Savior and Jesus Christ our Lord"
.
Which of course kinda contradicts this:
Luke 10:25-28 King James Version (KJV)
25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
