Yeah I agree with both your sentiments. People are egotistical/ narcissistic and religion reflects that. What other way could you explain to humans the nature of God but in human terms? The intention isn't egotistical. It's poignant. gods aren't made in our form, we describe gods in terms meaningful to us.

Yes but that wasn't what you were saying Sae. You think Christianity when monotheistic is polytheistic. SO is just being tangental which helps no one.

Can't accept that answer. We are supposedly created in god's image and so our image is that of god's is it not? So I ask again, why would god have an image (phyisical or not). What purpose does it serve god to have an image? Also why have any image at all if none can see it? The purpose behind it may either be 1. There is no purpose and is completely devoid of meaning or 2. God does not exist and so an image of him would be impossible. or 3. Theists need to maintain gods invisibility and so dodge questions that ask what I have asked, "what is the purpose for god to bare an image?".
God is supposedly beyond any detection for which includes sight, sound and touch. Then to say an image of him exists afterwards is just confusing and strange. God has an image(supposedly) yet none can see it. What is the purpose of it? Why would an all perfect god behave in such an inperfect way? Maybe it's because it's us who controls god and not the other way round. Which would explain all the strange and meaningless behaviour from him. He is our creation and we are far from perfect. I think that says it all doesn't it.
The purpose of the image is to relate our understanding of something tangible to humans to the divine which is God. Grasping something real to us helps us to grasp an idea such as God. People have rationally concluded this about the nature of God.
Your limitation of the word 'image' isn't rational. People can easily understand this concept. Nothing about God is strange or meaningless.. it all follows exact logic. You can't apply a set of rules from one thing to another where they don't apply. You can bite and taste an apple, but if I pass on some information to you you can neither taste it nor bite it.. does that make it no information, or just not an apple?
