Biblically, it's not a matter of slave/not slave. It's a matter of slave to whom? If you're not a slave to god, you're a slave to sin.

Of course, one immediately wonders what god needs with a slave class, before he remembers that god is a needy little bitch.

And being a slave to sin is just being a slave to god in a roundabout fashion, since god created sin, too. Whee.

Not that I believe a word of this particular kind of mental debasement is worth anything more than simmering disgust, but, hey.
