Isn't there an aphorism in German along the lines of:
"This wouldn't have happened under the Fuerher?"
Russians have more of that in spades.
It is dieing of with the last war generation.
Thing is, germany was totaly destroyed and demolished, it`s right for a future existance put to question by the rest of the world and it had to take responsibility for the worst crimes commited in human history.
Therefor a positive remark about this era is impossible to make and usualy only done by stupid provokateurs.
Russia on the other hand won the war, and generaly speaking - when looking back at famous historic figures - most of them commited or where involved in horrendous crimes but are still seen as great figures of human history due to their final victories.
Such as Peter the Great, Fredrick the Great, Queen Victoria and others.
A perspective on history shouldnt be biased by victory or defeat - but by analysed objectively
