That's not limited to Islam. That's a problem with Abrahamic faiths. We need to blame the Jews for this. They love being blamed for shit.

Even within Abrahamic faiths, the amount of misogyny varies from one culture to the next.

Here, in the US, we have denominations like Methodists and Baptists where women can be pastors and everything but we also have denominations like Catholicism and Mormonism that pretty much tell the women they need to be barefoot and pregnant 90% of the time.

It even varies within other cultures. Look at the ancient greeks and you'll see quite a bit of variety there, too. The Spartans were far from egalitarian.

Oh, yes. There's definitely a lot of variation within faiths. I have many muslim friends who live with as much freedom as anyone else I know. I work with one girl whose family are a bit mental and call her too "Westernised" and one of her brothers went as far as throwing acid over her car or some shit, but she still lives her life her own way. She bought her own house when she was 18 and moved out, and she's marrying the man she chose for herself sometime this year. Another I've known since school wears a Hijab but is always getting shit from her parents because they don't want her to wear one.
