I have been reading "Deer Hunting with Jesus" by Joe Bageant. Bageant talks about how Theocracy is being promoted through the evangelical right. Bageant seems to point out that the far right is seriously ready to do what it takes to win.
Having been raised as a fundamentalist, I am aware of several ways in which they promote their agenda. I am convinced that many who don't have a first-hand experience with this "movement" fail to realize the full extent and seriousness of this. Some of my friends on the right are in a panic because they believe "death panels" are being created. I find it interesting as well as unsettling that people actually fall into believing these things. If people can be led in crazy directions like this in droves, what effect does that have on the future of Separation of Church and State?
I tend to believe that we are going to see an upset in our political party system as the religious right fights to take control of the our political system.
Does anyone else see it this way?
