Yeah, I was waiting for comments like that.
What I said on Facebook was that I don't know if the parents made them the animals they are, or if they lack empathetic neuroreceptors, but given the way the surroundings have responded I suspect it's much like TX - they're football players in a town that probably depends on the sports revenue and support, as well as having slut-shaming values.
As for their lives being ruined by "stupid mistakes," I'd like to defer to Dave Chapelle's question (though they are not this age), "How old is 14 really?"
The reason he asked it is because he said we need to have a discussion about when personal responsibility and adult-like thought come into the equation. At what age will you be expected to realize that, at the very least, rape is a Bad Fucking Idea, and hopefully will take into account that it's an awful, horrible, terrible thing to inflict upon another human being?
I suspect also that CNN will be trying to say that they are attempting to portray how far they had fallen, if complaints are made. I think the victim has had enough publicity. No media outlet should grief-whore.
