As the mechanics in Skyrim are far different and are focused on always-on abilities and one-per-day powers (which I find I have rarely used in any of the TES games) and do not give skill or attribute bonuses... for me, selection of race has become more about RP potential than anything else. My gameplay style tended towards playing sneaky fucks that would just as soon put a poisoned arrow in your neck as look at you, so Bosmer I remain.
Yeah, race selection and stat engineering were an interesting mechanic for those games, and you could more effectively break the games too (100%reflect damage/100%chameleon/self-made spells, etc). Less important in skyrim.
