No - just checking if people here would say that polygamy/polyandry is bad.
I find that most people aren't against it philosophically but if it is put alongside the fact that it would allow religious people like the Mormons to marry multiple wives then there can be an irrational knee jerk reaction against polygamy/polyandry as a whole because people can tend to think if it is from a religion then it is bad.
Silly logic I know but it does happen.
I'd not marry again but I think that the general opposition to polygamy is just based on outdated cultural norms....
I'm not opposing gay marriage btw ;-)
I'm just hopeful that Muslim women who come to Britain from countries where polygamy is a norm (mainly Saudi and Nigeria) can be legally protected even though their marriage does not conform to the previous status quo...
I also wondered if there were many legal or philosophical arguments against this...
