That is easy for a mature adult to state, but in reality the people who closet themselves are the children and teenagers who are fighting two wars, one within themselves and their changing bodies and minds while the other fight is against a society that with one breath informs them to think differently and then in the next breath berates them for daring to think differently. Young minds are easily molded and many times it is simply easier to closet one's identity than to go against the grain. It is a sad state of affairs, and the religious right is the biggest problem with adolescent low self esteem and suicidal tendencies. Religion does real harm to people, and it is one of the reasons I will always advocate for its removal from society.
