A Literal Genesis Entails An Evil God
RE: A Literal Genesis Entails An Evil God
(May 19, 2013 at 11:54 pm)ThomM Wrote: Actually - there has ALWAYS been a problem with Religions that claim a single creator god (Monotheism like Judaism - and Polytheism like Xtianity that claim ONE god created everything).

The Jewish people and Christians believe in the same God, how is it you feel qualified to define God in two totally different ways.

ThomM Wrote:The claim that the god is ALL GOOD cannot literally be true. The god has to be the creator and the source of EVERYTHING - both good and evil.

Why does God need to be the creator of good and evil, that actually makes no sense at all. God has always been, and it's not because He does good we call Him good, it is who He is, God can only be good and thus good comes from Him. With this said God who is all good could not create evil, no more than He created good. For God to have created good He would have had to create himself and He did not do that because He has always been.

ThonM Wrote:When I was Young - I was taught that the bible was a complete INSPIRED and INERRANT word of god. ANd then - the NUNS taught us evolution - which of course contradicted the bible - along with a lot of other scientific facts that are in direct conflict with the bible.

So, because fallible man taught something contrary to the Bible it makes the Bible wrong, in what world does that make sense, I mean really dude.

ThomM Wrote:Every year of my life - science (Archeology, Geology, Physics, Genetics - and many more) has established more and more of the bible to be clearly nothing more than the Observations of a group of ancient cave dwellers and nomads - who then tried to explain those things they SAW>

You do know that most people in those days did not believe in the God of the Bible, and the many non believers believed the world was flat, actually you can not prove through scripture that scripture says the world was flat, yes I know the scriptures you will use and they are not proof.

ThomM Wrote:The earth was FLAT - because as they saw - even from a high place - it only reached to the Horizon and then fell off. IT was a flat circle -as stated in the bible - because if YOU are at a high place and turn in a circle - the "ends" of the earth seem to BE a circle. IT was slightly concave - because something had to be there to keep the water from falling off the ends of the earth.

What! where did you come up with that, when they climbed to the top of the highest mountains the curvature of the earth becomes quite apparent and it is not concave and if you turn 360 degrees you will not see a circular earth. You might get dizzy but that's it.

ThomM Wrote:And - there is ALSO no mention of the christ in the historic record of his supposed time - nor mention of his mother or father as well. In the golden age of ROME - where we have records of turtle races - and records of at least 20 OTHER claimed messiahs - the christ is no where to be found.

Turtle races, shows how interesting they were, huh. Just how many fathers and mothers do you think were never mentioned in history, two, three, four how many. Why do you think those others never made it as Messiah, you are not intrigued by Jesus becoming so popular so quickly and not being a historic figure in Roman history.

ThomM Wrote:Once YOU eliminate the "inerrant" from the bible - by PROVING ONE THING is actually wrong - then the rest of the bible stands only on what can be proven and corroborated from OUTSIDE the bible - and very little can be.

Which one did you disprove.

ThomM Wrote:As I have pointed out before - there was a Kansas - but that in no way proves that the WIzard of Oz was a real person. But I still have to believe that a person who went around rising rotting corpses from the dead WOULD have been mentioned somewhere!

You mean you disproved Oz, Kansas, well. Why would Christ have been written about in secular history, He came to save people from sin and people have never wanted to be accused of sin, good reason for historians to leave Him out of their writings, don't you think.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
