GC said the problem is pedophiles. If this is indeed the case, marriage is not a solution at all. So if the church allows priests to be married, all you end up with is some married priests. The pedophiles remain, and are still the problem.
So, yes, it is a contradiction to say the lack of marriage is the problem but the lack of marriage is not the problem.
