Passing this bill that mandates every American must buy Health Insurance, but then removing the device that would keep insurance affordable and competetive seems like a cruel joke on the lower class, and a shining gift to the insurance companies. I really hope the Democrats have some crazy ace up their sleeves, because right now they're driving the idea of reform into the dirt.
Medicare for Everyone!
Robert Reich, the 22nd Secretary of Labor, wrote that the public option was dead and that fear of Big Pharma and Big Insurance killed it. [1] I do recall that Medicare has some fundamental flaws that the new public option was supposed to fix, as in the red tape that prevents from life saving medications to be administered, like ending anti-rejection meds after several months even though you need a whole life of anti-rejs. But hey, as long as we have our Glenn Beck and republican fear machine, America is fucking safe from socialism.
