To run for: yes. To be elected: no. If you believe that we are under attack by fairies... and are being elected into a position of power where you can act upon that belief: I say it should very much affect your eligibility.
People have a right to believe what they wish to... but electing someone stupid (insane, whatever) enough to believe in fairies is just plain stupid... and should most certainly affect wether they get elected or not.
