About Godwin's law. While it works as a rule of thumb there are of course numerous examples where comparing a situation with WW2, Nazi Germany, or Hitler apply. I therefore do not agree with the premise that you automatically lose an argument when mentioning these. WW2 was a major historical event that still has an impact in current events.
