The protests are rather oddly timed to coincide with Erdogen's trip abroad, and his second in his own party is oddly more eager to accommodate then Erdogen himself. I don't think we are witnessing any spontaeous demonstration. It seem rather like some coordinated theatrics to facilitate some kind of intra-party coup against Erdogen.
