Yes, because a single exception destroys my entire argument. That's why all christians are Westboro level insane, or members of the KKK.
What I like is that you're arguing for an objective moral standard which is written on the hearts of all men, and I'm arguing for an evolutionary system wherein morality uprises naturally but is not a binding external state which we are all held accountable to by someone else... and yet you are the one claiming conflict as a point for your side, when in fact it's the exact opposite.
Quote:Who is "we" building a "more complex, secular moral framework" right now in this country? AAS?
We are. People. Because, somehow, the vast majority of us do manage to go a day without murdering anyone else.
Quote:Do you really believe what you write? Or is this your lame attempt to fill a page so your buddies wouldn't think that you are the idiot that you really are? Rambling still isn't an answer.
Yes, I do believe it. And, unlike you, I was able to actually provide some evidence for my view. You, on the other hand, make the mistake so many of your fellow god botherers do, and mistake derision for a rebuttal.
Quote:What you choose to ignore is that there is NO ONE teaching morals to our children in this country. Not schools. Not parents. Not YOU!
Really? I seem to recall my parents pretty comprehensively teaching me how to act like a human being, without recourse to a holy book. Why? Did yours just let you run around like the little animal you are, all day every day? Seems like a failure with them, not society.
Quote:There is a culture of death in our society. And it gets worse day by day. As the "commandments" fall, so does our consciousness.
Gotta love a person who takes his life lessons from a book full of death, who fully believes in hell, and who believes in a judgement day to come, talking about a culture of death as though it were everyone else's doing. That's some nice hypocrisy.
Quote:That message is loud & clear to our children! Its our actions that our kids learn from. Not some "co-op'ed value" that you think is born in them!
It's a demonstrable fact that morality is partly an innate trait. Some of it is learned, yes, but not all of it. Here, take a look.
Quote:But you refuse to acknowledge it. You point fingers, yet don't lift one yourself.
Probably not a good idea to make assumptions about people you don't know, super-stud.
Quote: You tear down any good that the vast majority Chrisitians have done, for the sins of a few.
No, but I do believe that christianity is a useless vestigial parasite clinging to the good works that people do, trying to take credit for them. Big difference.
Quote:What charitible foundation do you belong to that feeds, clothes and helps anyone regardless of belief, or lack of?
Personally? These guys. I like them, because I think sharing knowledge is important- far more than faith- and that teaching a man to fish, so to speak, is a more useful tool. I know, the idea of spreading knowledge must be an alien one to someone like you, but hey. There it is.
Oh, and I also very much recommend the RWN group to anyone in Australia looking for something to do to help out! It's actually pretty fun, too!
Quote:You point to a hand full of sentences in the bible that portray God in exactly the light you want him in. Yet ignore thousands of passages that are profoundly great!
I haven't pointed to any bible verses, personally. I could if I want to, but the point is, you might want to try making your ad hominem attacks, you know... personal?
Quote:YOU take the hard look in the mirror. You are everything that is wrong with this world. The only thing important to you, is you.
Oh, that one's going in my sig.
