Exactly. But they really don't do it for comic effect. My own cousin is always writing stuff on fb like "god was good, everyone made it home safe". Would God be any less good if he had a plan that required a train totalling their car on the way home? The alternative is that god is good some days and a rat bastard the next.
No wonder everyone comes to think of theists as stupid. Unfortunately they just attract the dimmer lights. I know for a fact that theists can be bright, insightful, open and interesting. Sadly, so few seem to be.
