When I went into the military I went into an Advanced Electronics field.
The first school was six months of training on resistors, capacitors, transistors, DC circuits, AC circuits, etc. All component level detail of electronics.
After I completed the other two schools and got to my command we'd work on repairing broken mainframes and peripherals.
Did we troubleshoot or repair anything to the component level?
No. If the card was broken we pulled it out and put in a new one.
No one gave a shit which component failed.
