mini, when I was about 7 the police in the neighbouring district arrested a man for drunk driving.
They were to lazy to do procedures required in such a case and therfor simply locked the man into the cellar of the magistrate with the intention of releasing him the next day.
They forgot.
He was found 2 weeks later, half mad for having chewed his belt and parts of the wall in search of something liquid.
The police in catholic, conservative, clanish southern Europe is probably worse than the US police.
Not because they shot more often (which they dont) but because they operate in a clanish small community where everyone knows everyone and where you can get away with alot of things.
