It is a 'hidden' game mechanic from ruby/sapphire onwards... by 'hidden' i mean that there is nothing to give you this statistic but your memory.
Pity you guys never played Silver/Gold/Crystal... those were the best games content-wise
If only we had them back but with the 4th generation battle change... hence Heart Gold and Soul Silver!
