Yes of course. This pattern seeing is important. It can go wrong sometimes. But the pattern seeing itself evolved for a good "reason". Although of course reason isn't really the right word exactly.
Because of course you would have had to react as if its a predator in case it IS one. You can't afford to think "Oh its just the wind". And then have a predator kill you.
Did I forget to mention the benefits of pattern recognition? I guess I didn't think it needed a mention. But of course it could be needed a mention to some people. So thanks for pointing it out if I forgot to mention it.
Of course pattern recognition ITSELF evolved because it benefits us.
Even if we get it wrong a lot of the time. In the past this would have been often beneficial because, what if you're wrong? You can't afford to think and/or act as if its just something harmless. If you're wrong you could die.
