Suggestions for therapy on a budget

I have some pretty intense feelings of loneliness and alienation despite having people who care about me. I was also in the military and have some trouble with things that happened. Common problems...but particularly the first one can't really be talked about with people that I know or it would make them feel shitty.

I know what you mean. I too have these feelings sometimes. Perhaps there is something lacking in your life. A therapist cannot give you what you need.
Perhaps you're not content with the people you're in contact with.
What do they have to do to make you feel less lonely?
If not, it means you are a loner in heart. If no one can cheer you up by their presence, maybe only you can. Try to be happy when alone once in a few time. Do things to occupy your mind. Sports, video-games, anything.
Generally such feelings come to my mind whenever I'm not occupied with anything.
Therefore I generally occupy myself with something most of the day. Either I draw something, do push-ups, study, practice, write a blog, and generally divert my thoughts towards things I like. Never, ever sleep through the day. Do not lay down, if you're not standing, sit.
Write a diary, but not about things on how lonely you feel.
Write about things such a politics, try to focus your intellectual thoughts into words.
Occupy yourself as much as you can with any activity you desire.
That is my way of forgetting my feelings of loneliness. And I don't have anything you have. I live away from my parents, I don't have a GF, and I surely have no one but a pillow to hold on during the dark nights. You have all that. Cherish what you have. Be thankful.
I sure am. I'm not starving, I have a roof over my head. I have even the small luxuries of life such as coffee and an internet connection. I figured, there are people out there with less than what I have, yet they live out their lives in fulfillment. What do I lack? Nothing. It is the things that I want that make me feel that way. Curb your desires. Postpone them, or simply think that what you do now, is part of the way on that goal. Find yourself a purpose to live.
