Again sorry, (I am working on my writing. I will be taking classes shortly to help convey my thoughts into words.) I am referring to mental illness and disorders such as Bipolarism, schizophrenia, etc. In my person observations as a ministers kid and attending at least 12 different denominations. I find mental disorders are often neglected by religious organizations. Not to mention society as a whole is still behind on mental treatment.
I disagree with a lot of what you said, but most of all, these two points.
Advancements in science are done by scientists. If an atheist wants to move the process along just go to school and learn science or donate to the right foundation. Which is what religious and nonreligious people do if they care about these causes anyway, I don't understand what kind of help science would need from your brand of "atheism"
Like, what the fuck? There are already countless of scientists and foundations that work towards curing cancer. To say that science needs a boost from atheists is self-delusional.
Science has nothing to do with religion or the lack thereof. And I'm SO sick of religious people thinking they're somehow connected to science. And this whole idea of attaching science to "atheism" is uuuugh. It's borrowing from the hard work that man and women of science have worked towards for so long and attaching it to your identity and your "movement".
What you're proposing has nothing to do with atheism.
That is fine if you disagree, however I believe you missed the point entirely. Firstly nowhere did I say associate the idealogical beliefs of atheism (in my case agnostic) to science. Second of all I understand science makes no philosophical claims, I am in training in biology myself I would know. Thirdly no where did I say of attachment, the idea that I promote is a simple psychological premise of doing what religion is not. People view a ideology by its actions, or at least what it claims to be for.
Agnosticism, Athiesm, diesm, or secularism all are ideological claims. All of which carry a certian stigma to them, these stigma's often originate from actions of said ideology. Basically groups of the secular nature would do credit in promoting science over religious faith in the field of medicine and research, which a lot do. I understand your point and in no way shape or form want to create a system of governance with any ideology. Basically I was going off of several premise present by Dawkins and Sagan in regards to how teach society over time that religion is not needed. The other examples I present are typical psychological tactics to help change the misconceptions and negatives that being non-religious holds. Thanks for the comment however emotionally charged and abrasive as it it.
