I dont think so. A thing like this would never happen in France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and the Scandinavian countries. Maybe in the Netherlands. And in Germany, the chancelor is currently undertaking every single move possible in politics to weasle herself out of any connection to this. I dont know how much you get in your news on German politics, but the extent to which the NSA was cooperating with the German intelligence services will almoust definatly cost Merkel the election if she cannot provide evidence that her goverment was not involved. Germans are as big on the right to privacy as some Americans are on the right to bear arms. As Lenin once said "A revolution is impossible in Germany because it is considered a crime there to look at your neighbours garden."
The UK is pritty much the only country on this continent which somehow thinks that it is alright to surrender national sovereignty and the rights of it`s citzisens to a other nation. And it makes the entire matter only stink more that it is the UK which constantly keeps bitching about how other European countries are supposedly "taking the UK`s sovereignty".
