The arguments for or against the existence of god is in my view nothing more than an exercise in circular reasoning that just leads to one of two choices, uncertainty, and absolute rejection. I choose the latter. I don't believe in a god or gods for many reasons and I consider myself a militant atheist. Although as some of my fellow atheists have said I too am open to hearing arguments that prove the existence of god but as of yet have come across not one that has been convincing enough to even produce a sliver of doubt in my mind that he does not exist.
Gilligan, another issue regarding the arguments for the existence of god that I have noticed complicates the matter even further is that almost no one argues for or against without first trying to define god. There is the biblical creator god, the deists version of god that set things in motion and let the universe work itself out. When I argue against the existence of god I am usually referring to the biblical god but I also do not believe in any god of any kind. My personal studies and experiences throughout the years have convinced me beyond the shadow of a doubt that god in all his shapes and forms are a creation of the wild and vivid imagination of man himself. I personally don't even entertain the possibility of the existence of god since in my opinion all the evidence I have seen to date has been convincing enough to me, to warrant the complete dismissal of such a ridiculous notion.

There is nothing people will not maintain when they are slaves to superstition
