The pills have been known to cause at least 4 deaths. But those are pharmaceutically altered forms of THC.
With regards to Marinol, Marinol is to Marijuana as Opium is to Poppies. It's a highly concentrated, select form of Delta-9-THC. Marijuana, the plant, has well over fifty other psychoactive chemicals.
Wikipedia on THC Wrote:Mark Kleiman, director of the Drug Policy Analysis Program at UCLA's School of Public Affairs said of Marinol, "It wasn't any fun and made the user feel bad, so it could be approved without any fear that it would penetrate the recreational market, and then used as a club with which to beat back the advocates of whole cannabis as a medicine.".
With regards to synthetic THC shit like JWH, there is no relation between JWH and anything you find in marijuana.
JWH and friends are completely different molecules that just happen to produce similar effects via similar active sites, but that is about as far as a comparison can be made. Different atomic makeup, different configuration.
So far, we've seen little to no evidence of Marijuana "overdose" (as in the plant, proper).
Of course, from what I've observed in people, they ascribe the word "overdose" to commonly mean "It's not going well", as opposed to "I am going to die".
Which means that claims of marijuana overdoses will possibly rise, if only by virtue of incredibly poor terminology in popular culture.
