As a business owner, I would come out money ahead if I could pay more in taxes in exchange for covering all my employees with Medicare instead of paying the Health Insurance companies who gouge the hell out of me for their crappy health insurance policies.
Before Obamacare, every November, I'll call them "Health Insurance Bastards Inc." would bend me over and rape me, raising my rates as much as they pleased. "Up 30% this year... no wait, make that 50% just for good measure". They could pretty much do that to all small businesses with impunity. There were only two health insurance companies in the whole state, so they had little competition over a product you can't do without. Nice work if you can get it.
After Obamacare, I began getting refund checks from Health Insurance Bastards Inc. There are limits to how much they can gouge me. I went through last November without a rate increase. No wonder they're lobbying to get it repealed. They liked being able to rape me every year.
Obamacare requires them to have only 20% administrative overhead costs. Medicare runs on 2%. Go ahead and tax me in return for me saying goodbye to Health Insurance Bastards Inc. I'll be money ahead and it's also a better program than the crap plans I have to buy because it's the best I can afford.
Medicare for all would not only be more humane, it would be better and cheaper.
