I can only provide a personal anecdote - my own happiness probably peaked at about that level.
However, correlation is not causation and all that, and there were a lot of other factors that contributed to my level of personal satisfaction.
I do agree with the general principle of money not buying happiness. Money cannot buy back time, and if you're spending 40 or more hours a week doing something you don't like for better money - you will never get that time back. I'd personally rather do something I enjoy and make less.
