Since I retired I have in kept in touch with most of the people I knew while working. Most of them are miserable. The hate their jobs, their bosses, the system they work under, the tools given them to do their jobs, and the understanding that the first ones thrown out the door will be the workers if things get bad.

So I'd say go for the money whenever you can. If that's all the bosses care about it is all you should care about.
