Which job? Advice sought

It's really hard to say without knowing you personally. The cockiness, is kind of a plus. Successful car guys are usually pretty cocky. You won't have to know much about the business to start. The finance director will crunch the numbers and tell you what you can offer the customer. It'll take some time before you learn how to make more money off of somebody that doesn't know what their doing. More money in used cars than new also. None of that matters though. You have to go in, and talk to everyone that pulls into the lot. Where I worked, you approached them before they got out of their car. We all stood in front of the store and met people as they pulled into the lot. We called the spot that we waited at "The Point". Customers will come in, and waste your time. They will look at cars WAY out of their price range that they will have no chance of getting a loan for, but you have to sell them something else. People will come in looking for a certain kind of car, you won't have it, but you have to put them in something else. You can't let them leave. If you have no problem talking to strangers (of ALL sorts, sizes, ages, races, ethnicity), and you will continue to find potential customers, then you'll sell some cars. There are down times, and you'll have to go off of internet leads generated from online inquiries. You'll have to call people that came in, and said "I'll need to think about it". Plus, it depends on your area. I don't know how productive the dealership your considering is. But, if you call, ask to talk to the floor manager, pretend to be a Credit Union, and ask how many cars they sell a month. It's really REALLY time consuming. If you're thinking about juggling school with this, forget about it. If you're doing what you're supposed to be doing at work, you'll be too tired for homework. I guarantee it. Especially your first month.
