Even without coyotes, there are cars to contend with, or they can get trapped under houses, in sheds, etc. Many times cats can be ill without too many outward signs. Cats tend to crawl into hidden areas to die.
The natural explanations for your cat's disappearance are endless. To jump to a supernatural explanation in lieu of one of the many natural explanations is pretty irrational. The fact that you talked to yourself about a 'sign' is a non-sequitur. No different than a Wiccan 'casting a spell'.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
