RE: The vast complexity of living things proves that God exists (proof 1)

Explanations of the flood story seem to go like this most of the time. As the questions and considerations become more difficult, god gets inserted into more points of the story to fill the gaps. Which finally leads one to wonder why he didn't just make all of the "bad people" keel over dead instantly instead of coming up with an elaborate scheme that was so difficult to pull off that he kept having to wave his magic wand to make it possible. "Here's how it could have happened without god's intervention, except for the parts where god intervenes" is simply not convincing.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
