Shit happens. It would be nice if we lived in a world where this isn't the case, but we don't. Rebelling against it by trying to straighten what will never be straight by inventing explanations will simply drive you mad. I will note, however, that your posts and thoughts bear the signature of clinical depression, and that it is natural when depressed to have your thinking "spiral" in this way (it's called 'rumination'). I'm not a doctor, and I'm drawing large conclusions from small evidences, but it may be the depression which is causing you such disturbance, and this obsessing about the loss of your cat is simply 'the form' that the depressiive process is taking.
Anyway, just my two cents worth. Hope I haven't been too forward or assuming.
