A gift of the Spirit my friend. Though you can also see it as a prayer technique, you'll scramble your routine brain circuity/functioning and alter your conscious state in a meditative form which will bring you into a state of greater awareness of Gods presence. But the language itself is essentially gibberish I'll agree with you on that point, there's no real structure to it.
