Pardon my French but fuck that shit. So what, it would have been better to let her friend try to drive home, wrap the car around a tree and die? Seems legit.
I don't think that is the lesson they are trying to sell. Again, I had way too many underage parties when I was a teen, and even with a designated driver, even outside the issue of using a car, teens do stupid shit. They do stupid shit even without booze. I know damned well even not being drunk as a teen I had done some really stupid shit driving a car, and not driving a car. Shit that could have gotten me seriously injured.
I was completely sober once driving my Dodge Dart speeding down a steep hill, we got air born and bottomed out and my passenger suffered back strain and could have possibly broken something because of my stupid AND sober event.
And dares too, how many times have you seen sober kids hurt each other or themselves because of stupid dares.
Yes that is a good last resort being a designated driver, but where were the parents and society before it even got to that point?
Again, there has to be more to it than simply this kid being a designated driver. ON face value only knowing what I am seeing here I would agree, but not knowing all the details in person, I cannot make a blanket judgment.
