My objection to him isn't so much that he's a fraud, although CD just posted some interesting info that I wasn't aware of. My objection is that he boils down complex issues into simple little phrases and spews them as if they're wisdom, but in the end, they don't really contain anything of substance. Also, he takes people on his show and berates them in a sanctimonious manner for television ratings, something a psychologist with an ounce of respect for his field would never dream of doing. He is to psychology as Sarah Palin is to politics, only Dr. Phil doesn't have the excuse that he's delusional.
