Really? Tell me how 'Windows 6.2' doesn't refer to the NT kernel, and how 'Windows 8.1' isn't a marketing name for the entire kernel + user space build.

You didn't say 'marketing name', you said build version, a concept that in general and in the context of Microsoft Windows operating systems releases refers to something entirely different.
Oh, and if you insist, 'build version doesn't mean what you think it means'.
