What being a christian DID do, however, was to bolster jerk-like qualities I already possessed, and ever since I ditched the dogma I've found a REAL path to being (good and decent), whatever those things are.
You're certain that's what happened, it couldn't have been that you with your jerk-like qualities used the scriptures to release the jerk. Then when you ditched the faith, you just haven't found a replacement for what will bring out the jerk again. Not trying to insult here just honest thought.

You will need to bring plenty of proof for this, besides yourself, no biased allowed. I'm certain that for every Christian you bring up as being a jerk, I can introduce you to many more that are kind, caring, humble servants to others and ask for nothing in return. All these would also give any credit to their faith in Christ for who they have become.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
