Other than feeling like you have a fighting chance against a bad guy with illegal weapons, what other rationale is there for you to have one? The same defend-yourself logic gives you access to all the other banned weapons too. Why not clamp down on everything we don't want used against us?
The part that strikes me as crazy is the rationalization that ordinary Joes need state of the art weaponry so they can stand up to the police and military when it comes time to overthrow the government. Can we at least agree that this gross misinterpretation of the second amendment needs to go?
agree. Cops should have fully auto. They do for the most part now. I'm confused on what you're asking for the next part. Should I have illegal weapons? Well no I shouldn't. What makes explosive weapons justifiablly legal? Excessive force and iimpractical use. Don't get me wrong blowing up stuff with the guys may be fun but not much you can do with a rocket launcher, grenade, landmine, etc but reek chaos. Why not just clamp down on everything against us? Well it sounds good. except the outlaws and that shelter-logic leads to cutting liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I don't need for example my bow. I have a perfectly good grocery store down the road. A bow can be used against me. Used silently i might add. But is that reasonable cause for the sacrifice? Well to me, no. I love shooting my bow. I love to alter it and hunt. I just love looking at the damn thing. I love what it means to me and i love its ability to help me escape. Assualt rifle as well. I love light a target up and the feel of the kick. I love the rush. I love shooting a large clip and not having a pain in my ass annoying law inhibiting my enjoyment with the weapon. As far as your other comment about ordinary joes, fine it is your right to think it and express it.iI don't know what you really expect me to say to that. And no I don't think the 2nd amendment should be changed. We have set limits and we can work that out (like explosive weapons, mags, unstable weapons, silencers, type of rounds). We can bear arms and have discretion as to what is acceptable.
