Yes, but that doesn't stop the current government of Israeli from taking cynical advantage of the idiot sentiment on the part of right wing nutbags in this country, in order to aggrandize Israel in way that is harmful to American interests right now, and furthermore implicitly commit America to suffer further handicaps and reductions in freedom of action for the indefinite future.
In truth, no one could possibly resist taking advantage of any country so stupid as to let religious sentiments control its foreign policy outlook.
