Iran is a fundamentalist Islamic regime with a history of long bloody wars of aggression and an expansionist agenda.
The kind of nuclear power they were developing would have yielded nuclear weapon capabilities.
I highly doubt that the facilities used to produce nuclear energy can be used and be used to produce nuclear weapons. Iran was already a signature of the nuclear non proliferation treaty which comes with inspections of their own.
Iran is building nuclear power facilities for energy purposes.
Iran doesn't have a history of aggressive wars, unless you go back hundreds of years.
