Any kind of outspoken Christian pretty much equals Republican here, in my experience. In their defense, they're a pretty friendly bunch.
Anecdote: my car broke down on Sunday morning at 10 AM right in front of a big ass church in small town, Texas. It was blocking several cars from leaving church services, and to boot, my car is covered with "fuck off, creationists" bumper stickers. These folks moved my car aside, offered me everything from cell phone use to fried chicken at their homes (Honey, you come home with me right NOW! We'll work that old car problem out over iced tea! ).
Gracious people when a woman on her own is in trouble. There is much bad to be said about religion in Texas, but when your car breaks down in front of their church, they help.
Its nice when people exceed your expectations isn't it.
