It's commercial...social, an opportunity for the family to reunite and celebrate, not the birth of Jesus of course, but themselves, their achievements and so on. It's a pretext.
Then why the Hypocrisy?
If Christmas doesn't mean squat to you.... leave it to those it does.
Find another day to celebrate "themselves".
