I wish someone would explain exactly what they don't like about 8/8.1. I am stuck using Windows products for my work, because it is heavily reliant on a very old version of Excel (don't ask, just take me at my word here). I'm using Win 7 now and I quite like it. It's been problem-free for me. I am not a gamer and don't tax my computers much. I mostly buy new laptops because I wear out the old ones or I want the latest features.
The system I'm looking to purchase is another Toshiba desk top replacement laptop and it offers Win 8.1 without the touch screen feature. That sounds perfect to me. I had my step mom, who has a new notepad-type system with Win 8.1 on it that DOES have the touch screen feature, run the macros we use in Excel to do our work. According to her, it ran flawlessly -- so that's not an impediment, apparently.
I can get used to the 'no Start menu' thing. What else should I hate about Win 8.1 before I pull the trigger on a new system?
