It is kinda complicated; But if you want to Nail a Sunni Muslim down on a certain Hadith, just check if it is considered to be an authentic hadith by the Sunni Muslims. The work of finding out if a hadith is relaible or not has basically all be already done for you by the so called Scholars of Islam.
