I would not usually comment on a staff matter, but given the seriousness of this issue, and the level of concern amongst the membership, I'm going to break with that tradition.
This is all my personal opinion and observation and should not be taken as an official staff position.
The only decision that has been made to date is that Rayaan was wrong to do what he did, and that he owed Jacob an apology.
The matter is still open.
I personally consider this issue to be a very serious one - and that dismissing anyone's concerns as "whining" or the like is inappropriate and highly offensive. It's also my opinion that there are no small breaches of the privacy policy - they are all serious and should be treated as such. Furthermore, I can see that the staff as a whole has lost a great deal of credibility and trust that's going to have to be re-earned.
